This is a translation; in case of doubt the German version applies.
Scope
This statement covers the website at franziska-sprenger.de in all language versions.
Conformance status
I designed and built the website to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. As a private, non-commercial site it is not legally required to. I apply the standard voluntarily because many breeders read the site on a smartphone, with large text or with assistive technology.
What has been done
- Contrast: text and controls reach at least 4.5:1, large text at least 3:1, including text placed over photos.
- Visible focus: every link, button and form field shows a clear outline when using the keyboard.
- Keyboard: the whole site works without a mouse, including a skip link to the content. On small screens the menu opens with Enter and closes with Escape.
- Target size: controls are at least 24 × 24 pixels (WCAG 2.2, criterion 2.5.8).
- Reflow: the site works from 320 pixels wide and at 200 % zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Structure: real heading levels, navigation landmarks, labelled form fields, tables with header rows, photos with alternative text.
- Language: each language version is marked up as such so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
- Form: errors appear as text next to the field, not as colour alone. Success and errors are announced to screen readers.
- Motion: the only scroll effect is switched off completely when “reduce motion” is set in the operating system.
- No third-party services: no cookies, no embedded third-party content.
How it was checked
- Automated testing of every page in all languages with axe-core, at desktop and smartphone size.
- Measurement of target sizes, reflow at 320 pixels and contrast of text over photos.
- A keyboard walkthrough of the main pages.
There has been no audit by an independent body, and the site has not yet been tested end to end with a screen reader.
Known limitations
- The brush words (for example “Preserve”) are decoration only and hidden from screen readers. Their meaning is always in the regular text too.
- The versions other than German and English are translated from German and have not yet been reviewed by native speakers. They carry a notice to that effect.
Report a barrier
If you come across a barrier, please write to me using the contact form or at franziska.sprenger@aerea.de (opens in a new window). I will deal with it as soon as I can.
